About Us
Our Story: From a Kitchen Fundraiser to a Full-Time Pantry
The story of Fruitman's Pantry begins not with a business plan, but with a mother's support. In 2006, our founder's mother, Patricia, started baking homemade rusks as a fundraiser to send her two sons to the World Scout Jamboree in England. Her kitchen became a hub of activity, all for the sake of family and adventure.
Fast forward to 2010. One of those sons, Graeme, needed a side hustle to fund his dreams of playing golf on tour. He remembered his mother's famous rusks, and from her kitchen, Fruitman's Pantry was officially born.
And the name? "Fruitman's Pantry" remains a proud nod to our family's Dutch heritage. Our surname, Vrugtman, translates from old Dutch to "Fruitman." It’s a constant reminder of our roots, our history, and the legacy of quality we strive to bake into every single rusk.
Our commitment to quality is at the heart of our expansion. We are proudly ISO 22000 accredited and SANHA Halaal Certified, reflecting our adherence to the highest standards of food safety and production. We are passionate about supporting our nation, using only proudly South African ingredients in our manufacturing.
